Interfacility Transports make up a large volume of the calls for GCEMS. We are the primary means of ground transport from local facilities to regional care centers. We frequently transport our patients from hospitals in Cut Bank, Browning, Shelby, Havre, and Conrad and transport them to all types of facilities around the state and region including Great Falls, Kalispell, Helena, Missoula, Billings, and Glendive. We have even traveled as far as Spokane, Washington, Denver, Colorado, and Salt Lake City, Utah. Our location in this region of the highline means GCEMS is able to safely transport patients with varying levels of illness or injury from our local hospitals to definitive care by offering Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Life Support (ALS), and Critical Care Transport (CCT). Due to frequent inclement weather in the winter months, GCEMS is often the only trusted transport option for high acuity patients. Our interfacility transfer times can range from two to thirteen hours, but are typically five to seven hours long.
When flight teams are required to transport critically ill/injured patients, GCEMS is utilized to transport the flight crews and patients to and from the local helipad and airport to the sending facility. Our crews remain with the flight team while they are on the ground. During inclement weather we may transport flight teams from Cut Bank Airport to other facilities in the area.
